EDALE SKYLINE - JULY 26
This trip to the Peaks was exactly a year on from our first Edale Skyline experience. As Nick and Sarah had not been able to do it last year, and we enjoyed it so much, it was their turn.
After a turbulent few months, the last thing we needed was for the van to break down during the week before our trip, but it did. Only a small problem, but it took me 5 hours travel 3 miles to get home from work on the back of a recovery vehicle, and we had to go to Edale in the car and sleep in tents.
We planned a different route to get onto and off the Skyline circuit each day and it worked very well. On the first day, we went via Upper Booth and up Jacob’s Ladder, then anti-clockwise to Hope Station, where we took the train back to the campsite in Edale. On the second day, we took the train from Edale to Hope to rejoin the route, via a breakfast at the Adventure Café.
I love the route between Edale and Jacob’s Ladder. It gives wonderful views from the bottom of the valley. The climb was not a bad as I thought as well. Being at the start of the day probably helped.
